It's a big come back for the Garden Drive-In near Hunlock Creek after last year's season was cut short due to vandals causing thousands of dollars in damage. It's a sure sign warm weather is here to stay as the Garden Drive-In opened for business, kicking of its 65th season on Route 11 near Hunlock Creek.

Fighting to Save State Prisons

There were plenty of questions from the crowd at the Hunlock Creek Fire Company Monday night at an informational meeting regarding potential state prison closures. The state Department of Corrections plans to close two state prisons by July, choosing from a list of five prisons, including SCI Waymart in Wayne County, SCI Frackville in Schuylkill County, and SCI Retreat in Luzerne County.

Stahl seeks to have attorney removed from civil suit

Former Wilkes-Barre Area School District administrator Stephen Stahl is seeking to exclude an attorney in the civil suit filed over his firing for having a sexual relationship with a student. Stahl, 50, of Hunlock Creek, was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student when he was a 37-year-old teacher in 2004.

State Sen. John T. Yudichak recently presented a Pennsylvania Senate citation to Frank Brojakowski of Hunlock Creek for his military service during World War II and his 92nd birthday. Brojakowski served as a member of the 1st Infantry Division in Normandy, France on D-Day in June 1944.
